Memory Museum

Dear Families,

Your child is on the hunt for an item that will support writing about memories, and develop a classroom “Memory Museum”, as part of ongoing classroom inquiry. Will you help your child select an object that is:

-       personally meaningful to your child
-       have a story behind it (perhaps your child got it and why it is special)
-       be of little monetary value (in case it gets lost or broken)
-       be easy to carry

The object could be a refrigerator magnet from a special vacation, a rock from a family camping spot, a ticket stub from a favourite movie or sporting event, a picture of someone or something important or a card or letter from a special person. We’re going to be writing stories about why these objects are special. The object will be returned to you at the end of the activity.

Thank you for your help. I look forward to sharing your child’s writing with you once it is complete.

Please sent this item to school with your child by Tuesday, November 19.

If you have any questions about this do not hesitate to email me.

Sincerely,
Ms. Carroll

What Memories... Reminder

Hi Families,

This is a reminder that if your child has not completed the What Memories... Please try and have it back at school for Monday.

Remember when filling out each section, it needs to be a memory. This can be done through words or a picture. If your child is using pictures to share their memory, please make sure they can speak to it or right some notes beside it so your child can share their memory.

Thank you,

Room 9

What Memories...

Hi Families,

In your child's mail folder this evening, please find a sheet titled, "What Memories..."

This activity is kick-starting an inquiry that will lead our work over the next couple of months. Being able to identify and describe personal memories will be an important part of future components for our inquiry. Your support with this activity is greatly appreciated.

Please take some time over the next few days discussing different memories, and support your child in recording one for each area on the sheet.

Your child can record in pictures OR words, it is not expected that they do both. If recording in pictures, please assist your child in developing pictures they will be able to speak to once back in the classroom.

It would ideal if your child could return their sheet on Friday, November 15th.

Thank you for your support.

Playground Photos

Hello Families,

Our class is looking into different types of outdoor spaces; natural spaces, playgrounds, sport platforms/fields, different field landscapes, and the plants within them.

We would love to have some pictures of different outdoor spaces to give us ideas of how other places utilize their outdoor spaces.

If you and your family visit an outdoor space/playground please email me the pictures so we can look at them as a class and get some ideas.

Thank you,

Molly Carroll
