Hello Families,
Today, we dug deeper into our understanding of the Circle of Courage. We talked a lot about belonging and what that looks like and feels like. We talked about different places that we belong and how we could make others feel like they belong.
We have also introduced some peace makers this week. We have talked about Maria Montessori and Mother Theresa and how they were peace makers. Everyday we will be looking at a different peace maker and how they made peace within their communities.
In your child's communication folder there is a Picture day reminder. This will take place on Tuesday, October 1st.
Reminders:
Terry Fox Run @ 2:00 - Thursday, September 26
Welcome Back BBQ and Open House - Thursday, September 26

Terry Fox Run 2019
We will be having our Annual Terry Fox Run on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 2:00pm. Teachers will be discussing with students the life of Terry Fox and the contributions he has made to cancer research. We would like to extend the invitation to all parents and families to join us for the Terry Fox Run! Also, a reminder that our school Open House and BBQ are the same day, so you’re welcome to join all of the events!
Students can dedicate their run to someone who they know that has been affected by cancer. Please speak to your child prior to our run and if they choose to, they can write who they are running for on a sticker that they will wear during the run. These will be available in the classroom on Thursday.
Should you wish to make a donation online, please use the following link to donate through the Terry Fox website:
or
Feel free to send in cash donations with your child which will be collected by the teachers (Donations will be accepted until next Thursday, September 26th).
Let’s keep Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer alive.

Wednesday, September 4th
Today was another great day in Room 9. We talked about items that go in the recycling, compost, and garbage so we can work to creating less waste in our school. We played Addition Connect 4 and made new friends in our class. To end the day, we were partnered up and asked to make the longest chain, only using one sheet of paper. Tomorrow we will find out whose chain is the longest.
Students were sent home with a demographic package in their communication folder. Please have this filled out and sent back to school as soon as possible.
On Friday, September 6th it is School Colours Day (Blue and White). Students and Staff will be dressing in our Lake Bonavista Colours to show school spirit.

are many ways to volunteer – please check the blog and look for emails from our

opportunities that may be available and that fit a number of different
schedules and lifestyles.
If
you are interested in being our classroom Volunteer Coordinator, please email
me expressing your interest.
I’m
